Detailed day by day itinerary for 8 days Best of Northern Tanzania safari

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by our professional English speaking Guide. Your professional guide will pick you up and he/she will answer all your queries regarding your ongoing Tanzania safari and will also provide you with a short briefing as well.

Afterward, Depending on the time of your arrival you may either be taken to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay or you first have your Arusha City or Cultural tour.

Day 2: Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Following an early morning breakfast at your accommodation in Arusha, you will leave Arusha for Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire National park covers approximately 2600 square kilometers and it is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River the lifeline of the Park and some parts of Northern Tanzania. Huge herds of Resident wildebeests, zebras, elephants, eland, and oryx gather around the Tarangire River and stay in the Tarangire until the onset of the rains when they migrate again to good grazing areas in the connecting Wildlife Corridor that Connects Tarangire to other Wildlife sanctuaries like the Ngorongoro and Manyara.

Expect to encounter large herds of elephants while here that are accustomed to vehicles and this will be one of the most beautiful and iconic moments in this 8 day Tanzania safari.  You will enjoy your Picnic lunch in the park while being surrounded by large herds of majestic wildlife and later have an evening game drive before heading to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After your early morning heavy breakfast, you will depart for the long drive to the Ngorongoro conservation area, which sits at the rim of the Ngorongoro crater. This will be a long drive but worth its time because you will be traversing in one of the most areas of Northern Tanzania while enjoying the way of life of the locals on the way for example the Maasai communities and people who are the indigenous inhabitants of the area.

On arrival in Karatu, you will first have Lunch at your lodge and then proceed to Ngorongoro Entrance Gates to check in and embark on an afternoon tour of the crater floor.

The game drive to the Ngorongoro Crater floor begins with a 600m descent to the crater floor, a magnificent natural amphitheater. Covering 260 sq. km, the crater is an attraction on its own and is one of the natural wonders of the world. The crater supports a year-round resident population of a variety of wildlife and you can easily spot lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and other species of wildlife. The crater will truly leave you in awe of the beauty of creation as you will witness the existence of both carnivores and herbivores in one area living in an Eco system. After the Crater drive you will exit the crater before it comes to 7pm so as to reach your lodge early for inner and some cultural dances as you are resting and the after dinner you will rest for the night while also planning to see the mesmerizing adventure for the next day.

Day 4–6: Explore the Serengeti National Park.

The following three days of your safari will be spent in Serengeti National Park, one of the top wildlife spots in the world. Our 8 day Tanzania safari will take us via Olduvai Gorge which is one of the most famous Achiological sites in the world since the first remains of a human where found and its said that the first human being lived in the area a million years ago.

Olduvai Gorge is the prehistoric site where Dr. Louis Leakey discovered the remains of homo habilis, which is regarded as mankind’s first path of human evolution. An afternoon game drive at Serengeti follows home to more than 35 species of plains animals such as zebra, wildebeest, eland, giraffe, among many others.

Serengeti National park is the staging zone for one of the most spectacular events in the world- the annual Wildbeest migration. The Migration commences around June when over 1 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle head for the Masai Mara in Kenya in search of greener pasture while crossing one of the most dangerous river in Africa The crocodile infested Mara River. They are followed closely by the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures. The Serengeti is also home to over 500 species of birds. species both migratory birds and permanent residents. During these 3 days in Serengeti you will take part in all adventurous activities namely Morning and evening Game drives and also hot air balloon safaris so as to enjoy the fullest your 8 days Tanzania safari.

Day 7: Say Good bye to Serengeti National.Wildebeests in Serengeti

Wildebeests in SerengetiAfter an early morning breakfast,  You will head for a drive through morning game drive through the park driving  to Ngorongoro for a cultural excursion in the conservation Area where you will also have lunch and the transfer Karatu . In the late afternoon, you will enjoy it as you depart  Mto Wa Mbu the only town near Lake Manyara National Park where you will have your dinner and an overnight stay planning to experience one of your 8 day Tanzania Safari highlights because of the Tree Climbing Lions of Lake Manyara.

Day 8: Game drive in Lake Manyara and transfer to the Airport for Departure.

After early morning breakfast at your lodge, you will head out for an early morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park where you will enjoy more of the wildlife sighting experience. The park covers 330 sq. km, 70% of which is occupied by the lake which is home to the rare pink flamingos. The varied ecosystem consists of groundwater forests, acacia woodland, and open grassland along the lake shore and sustains a wealth of wildlife, including the big five -lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo. The park is famous for the elusive tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland between the lake and the rift valley.

After the sightings you will head back to the lodge for lunch and return to Arusha afterward to catch your flight back home. Or you can also plan a safari to visit other parts of Africa with us for example enjoying the pristine beaches with turquoise waters or book a gorilla trekking adventure in either Rwanda or Uganda.
